Strath Beag and Conamheall with Foinne Bhein (Plat Reidh) beyond,

oil on canvas,
77cm x 51cm,
Iain White 2017,
£365

This view at the head of Loch Erboll makes plain the scale of the stacking of the imbricated duplex masses of the Cambrian Quartzite Group seen here inclined across the flanks of Conamheall in Strath Beag on the right of the picture, and in the distance on the Plat Reidh of Foinne Bheinn (Foinaven) above the crags of Creag Urbhard to the southwest of Loch Dionard. To the left, the steep face of Creag Shomhairie harbours on its lower slopes a remnant of primary Boreal deciduous birch woodland now relatively rare in northern Scotland.
