Arcuil (Arkle) from Foinne Bheinn (Foinaven),

soft pastel on board,
54cm x 44cm (framed)
Iain White, 2016
£195

Looking west from high within Coir a Chruiteir on the western slopes of the Plat Reidh at the southern end of the Foinne Bheinn ridge towards Arcuil (Arkle) to the west.

Here the northern part of Arcuil has been reduced by intense glacial erosion to a narrow ridge curving to the east. This erosion has cut through the Cambrian quartzite and pipe rock to reveal in the floors of the two corries the plane of the sole thrust along which the Cambrian strata have been translocated to the northwest.
